That’s what Bill told me to expect when I told him I was going to move ahead with the divorce. “Six months of hell, Russ, then everything will start getting better!”, he said. Well, mine took about 21 months, so I like to tease Bill on his prognostication.
But despite the length and ugliness of my divorce, Bill hung with me. Oh, man, I’d get so mad or frustrated or downright depressed over my kids and would call him up and at the worst times of day. And, you know what? He never turned me away. Sometimes I’d cry and whine, other times I’d shout and cuss. He’d hear it all! Yeah, sometimes he’d give advice but most of the time he knew to let me have my say and get off my chest what was eating at me.
And no matter how long I’d talk, no matter what time of day or night it was, he’d always say, “I’m here for you brother. Call anytime.” He is a true friend.
Gentleman, if you are going through a divorce now or think you will be in the future, I can only hope you have a friend who will support you as a man like Bill will. That is a true gift. That is true riches.
Russ
