Hi Guys,
A good friend of mine (the wise and all-knowing Bill) recently reiterated some good advice, “You need take some time out for yourself.” I hope your not like me and tend to get so wrapped up in the things you “need’ to do you forget to do anything you enjoy doing. I think I had reached that point and Bill, as my good friend, realized that AND pointed it out to me.
You know, it’s a funny thing. the longer I was in that mode it seemed that actually I got less done. Like a I was grinding to a halt and losing momentum. So I started taking some time off to do some things I enjoy. And an amazing thing happened! I started getting things done again! And on time too! I felt re-energized and more ready for the tasks at hand.
When we were children and in school we had recess. It helped us relieve pent up energy from sitting at our school desk for hours. I think as adults we still need some sort of recess. Whether it is going to a movie, reading a book, enjoying a hobby like cooking, or fishing, or camping, or playing any type of game. Whatever it is for you at that stage of your life that gives you that break your looking for (assuming, of course, it’s legal! Ha! Ha!) you should find a way to occasionally do it.
For your own mental health. And, yeah, maybe those around you too!
See ya later,
Russ
