your not Superman! I know! I know! It was a shock to me too!
But my first clue was when I noticed your cape was just a big blue towel tied around your neck. Yeah, and when the iron on logo started to wear off your tee shirt, well, to be honest, that was pretty much a dead give away. Sorry! But as your friend I felt I had to tell you before someone else did. Besides it was sorta getting embarrassing the way you would rip off your shirt and leap out of windows (dude, you live on the first floor!) just to leave for work.
You ever notice how it is so much easier to see or point out other people’s flaws than our own? Even if those people are trying to do the best they can? It’s just so much easier isn’t it? It is so much easier to see our friend stressing himself out trying to do everything (especially this time of year) than to notice we may actually be guilty of the same thing (oh my!).
So just take a moment. Let me suggest being proactive. Before you get stressed out over the holidays and all you “think” you “need” to do, take a few moments, catch your breath, and really think about what you think is important to you and those around you to do. As you examine the things that are really important, the things that in the past have brought you the greatest joy, or perhaps the things you hope from your future to bring you joy as your life changes, you may begin to reevaluate some priorities. Now running around stressing over spending is less important than simply finding time to go see your child perform at her school Christmas play, or spending time having a cup of hot chocolate with your kids after a snowball fight, or sharing with them your memories of favorite holidays from your youth.
Take time. Give time. It is the most precious gift of all.
See ya later,
Russ
