Hey guys!
To state the obvious, life is busy! And particularly so for a divorced dude. I mean now your back to doing it all for yourself again and this time you might have kids added to the mix.
So I was thinkin’ we just gotta do some multi-tasking to help us fly through some of these daily chores that eat up so much time so we can spend more time on things we really need or want to. You know what I mean? So here are some suggestions:
#1: Save time by washing your dishes while you shower!
Yeah! You get some soap, a rag or a brush, and scrub away on them dishes while your in the shower. What a time saver! Maybe you can even modify a dish drainer to hang from your shower curtain rod so they can drain and dry there after you get out of the shower. C’mon! A couple of wire coat hangers ought to do that, right? Or a bungee strap!
#2: Educate and Organize yourself while your driving.
Forget the tapes and CDs, have you seen those lap desks they sell now? Strap one of those to your steering wheel of your car or truck and read on your daily commute! I mean your spend all that mindless waste of time just listening to the radio or screaming at other drivers, why not make good use of it and get yourself educated? Didn’t you always want that advanced degree? Didn’t you always want to pursue a personal interest and just couldn’t find the time? Now you can! And hey! You got all that empty wasted space on the windshield you can use that like a personal organizer! Yeah, you can put your notes for ideas like your next great novel or invention! Huh? Great idea or what? Or use one of them dry erase markers and keep all your appointments right there before your eyes! Wow!
#3: Consider combining exercise with your yard chores.
So your getting a little pudgy around the middle? You know you need to go to the gym but really who has the time? Yard work is just one of the many things that keep piling up waiting for you to get it done. So why not combine these two?
Got to mow the yard? Strap on some jogging shoes and do some high speed laps around the yard. Missed a few spots? So what, tell the neighbors your yard is in a creative design contest! As you progress in your fitness level you can have your kids sit on the mower thus adding more weight and a greater workout for you and giving you both some more family time (Aren’t you such a great Dad?)
Got to clear the driveway and sidewalk of snow? First get rid of that snowblower. I mean, really, how many calories are you going to burn with that? No, for truly burning calories shoveling snow is THE GRANDADDY of them all guys! Don’t pass this one up! It has been well documented that shoveling snow will raise your heart rate, just look at all the guys that die from heart attacks every winter while shoveling snow!
Need to clean out the ducts in your place? What an awesome opportunity to take up yoga! The bending, stretching, twisting, and contortions you will learn to put your body through in yoga will come in handy when you go to clean out those ducts! Or join the circus, whichever you should choose.
Those are just some quick suggestions guys. If you have any more please feel free to add them in the comments. we are all looking for ways to save time and effort!
See ya later, I gotta go shower and wash some dishes!
Russ
