Hey dudesndivorce.com guys!
You may recall in my post from January 21, 2009 “A Follow Up to Keeping the Focus” I mentioned I have a tendency to be like a bulldog and keep on a topic in a conversation, discussion, debate, argument, etc.
Well, as many times as that as been an aid to me it has just as many times been a hindrance too! I would liken it to getting a form of tunnel vision, I suppose. I get so focused on the subject or topic at hand I tend to lose sight of the actual “big” picture. I momentarily lose sight of how this one issue or matter we may be discussing fits into the “big” scheme of things, especially if that means the other persons life! Doh! Big mistake!
Yeah, I did this recently. I just got so focused on the issue at hand I lost sight of all the stresses on the other person involved and how these stresses were impacting them and their life, their outlook, their choices, their emotions, etc., etc., etc.!
Afterwards a light went on in my head and I finally did realize it and, boy, did (still do!!!) I feel like a jerk. The best thing I can do is confess my error and apologize and hope they can and will overlook my shortcomings.
I’ll let you know what happens.
See ya later,
Russ
