Hi dudesndivorce.com readers!
Today I would like to discuss my third guidepost.
Guidepost #3: DO NOT pretend problems do not exist!
This to me is crucial. We live in a society today of that tends to handle problems by one of two means; either simply ignore or deny the existence of the problem entirely or blame the problem and its consequences on someone else.
Neither of these philosophies will help anyone achieve their goals of recovery or moving on with their lives. Those problems will always be there to nag them until they eventually recognize them and deal with them. In other words you can’t live like an ostrich with your head in the sand regarding the issues in your life or in yourself. You have to be real. You have to be honest. You have to deal with them.
Only then can you begin to move beyond them.
You can’t fix a problem until you first aknowledge it!
To deny a problems very existence only allows it to fester like a sore or grow like a cancer. It is often best to address an issue early rather that later. Problems have a tendency to build momentum all on their own. If not addressed early they may take a great deal of energy to turn around, much more than they would have if addressed early in their “infancy”. Be proactive, rather than reactive.
See ya later,
Russ
